Vietnam and Saigon

You have probably watched TV so you know that at present time there are 3 tyfoone’s just of the cost of Vietnam waiting to make landfall. However, today it is a blistering heat in Saigon. The meter sayes 36 but it feels more like 50+. Its like a sauna.

Vietnam has 90 mill inhabitants an Ho chi ming city is the largest with 11 mill. Saigon is today an municipality within it.

There are 8,5 mill motorcycle's in the city and this is the highest mumber of all cities in the world. And that you feel when trying to cross a road. They are driving all around you and at quit high speed.

The trix is to be predictable and never stop when yoy are in the road. If you stop they run you down. I am not religius but I think that this must be the meaning of “The leap of fate”

The change from organized Melbourne to Saigon could not have been greater. Traffic, noise, neon signs and so on is realy affects you.

But Saigon has a lot of charm build in to all this chaos.

The currency is DONG and a beer cost around 100 000,- of them. We had dinner last night and the check inkluding tip was 4,6 million. (Falang price)

However, as falang you quickly attract lokal fixers. Just sitt down on a street shop and you soon have a crue of them. They shine your shoes, help you get sigarettes, guide you to the ATM and so on 😉
